Hello, my name is Semine and I am a researcher and writer, born and based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I write about colonialism and natural history museums in Denmark, Malaysia, and Singapore. I am the author of Take Root Eat Root (Obra Press 2024), a book about colonial botany in Honduras and Malaysia. Other book projects include co-translating Karen Barad into Danish for Art Hub Copenhagen. I have also worked on a virtual recipe garden and written about industrial fruit distribution. I am currently working as the in-house writer at the Center for Applied Ecological Thinking at Copenhagen University.

I have been a research fellow at MIT, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the architecture practice APRDELESP. I have worked as a consultant at the National Health Service England and at ReD Associates. I hold a BA with Distinction from Cambridge University and a MSc from MIT.

I was part of the 2024 cohort at School for Poetic Computation, and I am a 2025 recipient of a Danish Arts Foundation grant. In recent months, I have been invited to lecture at MassArt, Nanyang Tech and the IT University of Copenhagen, and published writing in the Funambulist, Politiken, resilience.org and Føljeton.
